Protecting Sight #130: Designing for simplicity. Dislocated IOL & Yamane technique, acute retinal necrosis, Von Hippel Lindau Syndrome, and the Swiss Family Robinson.

Welcome to my daily learning journal. My daily goal is to watch one Ted Talk and one cataract surgery. I also plan to read one journal article and read/listen to a book chapter, short story or significant work.

Here’s today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – John Maeda: Designing for simplicity. “The MIT Media Lab’s John Maeda lives at the intersection of technology and art, a place that can get very complicated. Here he talks about paring down to basics.” (ted.com)

2. Cataract Surgery – Ike Ahmed – Dislocated Intraocular Lens Repositioning from Retina to Yamane Double-Needle Scleral Fixation. Great technique.

3. Journal (Prism Eye Rounds) – Ike Ahmed MD – “Eyes on Fire: A Delightfully Ghoulish Evening with the Pitt Retina Service.” Superb cases presented. (YouTube)

4. Book Chapter – The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss – Chapter 44-54. Almost done! (Gutenberg | enotes).
