#ProtectingSight #395: Normal anxiety vs. anxiety disorder? Phaco behind a corneal scar & strabismus without diplopia. David Rubenstein & the Magna Carta.

Welcome to my daily learning journal. Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Jen Gunter: What’s normal anxiety — and what’s an anxiety disorder? “Everyone gets anxious at times, but how can you tell when worrying and fear crosses the line and needs attention? Dr. Jen Gunter introduces a special part of the brain called the amygdala and shares the science behind your brain’s threat-detection system, what causes it to malfunction and the most effective ways of treating an anxiety disorder. Want to hear more from Dr. Gunter? Check out her podcast Body Stuff, from the TED Audio Collective.” (ted.com)

Very much enjoy these relatively short (5 minutes) talks with high yield pearls.

2. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD 1163: phaco behind the corneal scar. Excellent case.

3. Andrew Lee MD – Strabismus without diplopia.

Dr. Lee’s neuro-ophthalmology reviews are perfect for lifelong learning.

4. Private Equity Masters 4: David Rubenstein – Carlyle Group. An extraordinary discussion between Ted Seides and David Rubenstein.

I’ve enjoyed following Mr. Rubenstein’s philanthropy and especially as it relates to historical documents. See his copy of the Magna Carta, on loan to the National Archives, here.

My historical document collections are described here.
