Welcome to my daily learning journal. Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Barry Schwartz: The way we think about work is broken. “What makes work satisfying? Apart from a paycheck, there are intangible values that, Barry Schwartz suggests, our current way of thinking about work simply ignores. It’s time to stop thinking of workers as cogs on a wheel.” (ted.com)
This is the second Barry Schwartz Ted Talk I’ve experienced (five listed on ted website). The other was What role does luck play in your life?. Filled with insights and wisdom.

2. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD – 1127: keeping track of surgical timing. Dr. Devgan continues to offer pearls to optimize every step of cataract surgery.
3. Andrew Lee MD – Macular Ganglion Cell OCT.
Dr. Lee’s neuro-ophthalmology reviews are perfect for lifelong learning.

4. Alex Rodriguez – Business after Baseball (Capital Allocators, EP.198). Seides states, “Our conversation covers Alex’s early interest in business, lessons he learned from Warren Buffett, Magic Johnson, and Greg Norman, the strategy of A-Rod Corp, time management, leadership, and identification of partners.”
This is the 2nd Capital Allocators podcast I’ve experienced. Enjoy Seides interviewing style. An excellent discussion with baseball player and entrepreneur Alex Rodriguez. Loved Rodriguez’ discussion of his interactions with Warren Buffett and other mentors. Filled with pearls.
