Last year, I wrote about how meaningful it has been for my family to support scholarships for medical students through the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Recently, the Rutgers Foundation shared an inspiring follow-up story highlighting Justin Benton’s journey to graduation and the impact scholarship support can have along the way.
Medical School Graduate Has a Heart Full of Gratitude
Justin’s story resonated with me because financial aid, scholarships, and student loans also played a major role in my own educational journey. Watching students reach milestones like medical school graduation is incredibly rewarding.
One of the most meaningful moments was receiving this note from Justin:
“Words could never express my utmost respect, appreciation, nor could it truly capture the magnitude of the impact of your donation. However, I hope that through my actions, dedication, and success throughout this journey, I can demonstrate the impact and value of your commitment to the next generation.”
Messages like this are a reminder that scholarships are about much more than financial support. They create opportunities, encouragement, and connections that often continue far beyond graduation.
For additional background, here is the earlier article that helped tell Justin’s story:
