Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming ophthalmology, offering new opportunities to improve efficiency, clinical decision-making, and patient care. But innovation comes with important responsibilities.
I recently spoke with The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) about AI’s growing role in ophthalmology, from ambient AI scribes that reduce documentation burdens to advanced data analytics that may improve patient outcomes.
We also discussed the importance of patient privacy, data accuracy, physician oversight, and health equity. As AI becomes increasingly integrated into clinical practice, physicians must help guide its responsible development and implementation.
The goal is not AI for its own sake, but better care for every patient.
I appreciate the opportunity to share these perspectives with AJMC.
