Welcome to my daily learning journal. My daily goal is to watch one Ted Talk and one cataract surgery. I also plan to read one journal article and read/listen to a book chapter, podcast, or significant work.
Here’s today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Judson Brewer: A simple way to break a bad habit. “Can we break bad habits by being more curious about them? Psychiatrist Judson Brewer studies the relationship between mindfulness and addiction — from smoking to overeating to all those other things we do even though we know they’re bad for us. Learn more about the mechanism of habit development and discover a simple but profound tactic that might help you beat your next urge to smoke, snack or check a text while driving.”

2. Cataract Surgery – Dr. Neto Rosatelli – Phaco Clip #115 Fibrotic Posterior Capsulorhexis. Excellent demonstration of a primary posterior capsulorhexis.

3. van Leeuwen R, Haarman AEG, van de Put MAJ, Klaver CCW, Los LI, Dutch Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Study Group. Association of Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Incidence With Myopia Prevalence in the Netherlands. JAMA Ophthalmol. Published online November 25, 2020. doi:10.1001/jamaophthalmol.2020.5114

4. Chris Voss, Never Split the Difference. Chapter 1.
I learned about Chris Voss through his guest appearance on The Investors Podcast (TIP320: BUSINESS NEGOTIATIONS W/ FORMER FBI AGENT CHRIS VOSS). This was a superb episode which led me to buy the Kindle book. The art of negotiation from a hostage negotiator has pearls which apply to everyday life.
