Welcome to my daily learning journal. Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Naomi Mwaura: A feminist reimagining of Kenya’s public transport. “Kenya’s minibuses — known as “matatus” — offer a convenient, affordable and colorful way for people to get around. But they also pose safety risks and accessibility issues for many of their passengers, especially women. Bringing a feminist perspective, activist and TED Fellow Naomi Mwaura calls for a revolution in public transportation by making routes transparent, protecting passengers from harassment and paving a career path for women in the industry.” (ted.com)
I visited Kenya in 2006 and was immediately fascinated by the “matatus.” Insightful talk.

2. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD – 1130: Pupil Expansion with B-Hex Ring. Well done and excellent pearls.
3. Andrew Lee MD – Idiopathic Orbital Inflammatory Syndrome (Orbital Pseudotumor).
Dr. Lee’s neuro-ophthalmology reviews are perfect for lifelong learning.

4. Episode 5: The State of Venture Capital, Why Companies Fail and Artificial Intelligence with Chris Dixon — Shane writes, “In this episode, a16z partner Chris Dixon and I discuss the history of venture capital, artificial intelligence, what makes a great entrepreneur, and why companies fail.”
A fascinating podcast episode. Dixon talks about his investments, including Airbnb, Kickstarter, Coinbase, and more. Also neural networks, AI, the power of Twitter, food industry challenges, and much more.
