Welcome to my daily learning journal. My daily goal is to watch one Ted Talk and one cataract surgery. I also plan to read one journal article and read/listen to a book chapter, podcast, or significant work.
Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Sally Kohn: Let’s try emotional correctness. “It’s time for liberals and conservatives to transcend their political differences and really listen to each other, says political pundit Sally Kohn. In this optimistic talk, Kohn shares what she learned as a progressive lesbian talking head on Fox News. It’s not about political correctness, she says, but rather, emotional correctness. (Contains profanity.)” (ted.com)
We spend so much time talking past each other and not enough time talking through our disagreements. And if we can start to find compassion for one another, then we have a shot at building common ground. It actually sounds really hokey to say it standing up here, but when you try to put it in practice, it’s really powerful.
Sally Kohn (Ted Talk)
Very good Ted Talk. Worth a listen.

2. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD – 1030: Your Surgical Skills at Case 300. Nice technique.
3. Andrew Lee MD – Homonymous Hemianopia. Dr. Lee’s neuro-ophthalmology reviews are around 5-7 minutes. High-yield insights and pearls.
4. The Great Mental Models Volume 1: General Thinking Concepts by Shane Parrish and Rhiannon Beaubien. 2019. “Hanlon’s Razor.” Finished! This is an extraordinary book. Each chapter is filled with insights and pearls.
