Welcome to my daily learning journal. My daily goal is to watch one Ted Talk and one cataract surgery. I also plan to read one journal article and read/listen to a book chapter, podcast, or significant work.
Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Scott Summit: Beautiful artificial limbs. “Prosthetics can’t replicate the look and feel of lost limbs but they can carry a lot of personality. Designer Scott Summit shows 3D-printed, individually designed prosthetic legs that are unabashedly artificial and completely personal — from macho to fabulous.” (ted.com)
An inspirational Ted Talk which brings together the best of design, aesthetics, empathy, and utility. The Ted Talk is from 2011, and love to see how prosthetics design has advanced in the last decade.

2A. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD – 1072: epi-nucleus removal technique. Great pearls & technique.

2B. GoreTex Scleral Fixation of Modified Toric Intraocular Lens (AAO One Network) – “In this 1-Minute Video, Drs. Andrew Hou, David Murphy and Kamran Riaz demonstrate GoreTex fixation of a modified toric IOL.” Nice technique.
3A. Andrew Lee MD – NMO/MOG. (NMO = Neuromyelitis Optica. MOG = myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein).
Dr. Lee’s 450+ neuro-ophthalmology reviews are around 5 minutes each. Perfect for the busy clinician & trainee. I plan to watch one a day, from oldest to newest.

3B. Wu CY, Knight D, Freeman W. White Macula After Pars Plana Vitrectomy in a 71-Year-Old Woman. JAMA Ophthalmol. Published online February 04, 2021. doi:10.1001/jamaophthalmol.2020.4616

4. TGL033: THE 100-MILE MINDSET WITH NATE BAILEY. “Today’s guest is Nate Bailey. Nate is a former leader in the army, a successful real estate investor, the host of the Championship Leaders podcast, and the author of the book, The 100 Mile Mindset.”
Great insights in this podcast episode.
