#ProtectingSight #417: The informal settlements reshaping the world. MIGs, migraines, & future-proofing your knowledge.

Welcome to my daily learning journal. Here is today’s list:

1. Ted Talk – Jota Samper: The informal settlements reshaping the world. “Creative, sustainable solutions find their home in the thousands of informal neighborhoods across the world. Urban planner Jota Samper believes these often overlooked settlements (also known as slums) should be regarded as hubs of innovation and shares three reasons why giving them the attention they deserve could help change the way humanity coexists — and cities evolve — on a global scale.” (ted.com description)

Fascinating talk. I’ve seen informal settlements and often marveled about their ecosystems.

2. Cataract Surgery – Uday Devgan MD – 1185: MIGS made easy – glaucoma. Excellent pearls.

3. Andrew Lee MD – Migraine vs Non migrainous presentations in Neuro Ophthalmology.

Dr. Lee’s neuro-ophthalmology reviews are perfect for lifelong learning.

Episode 15: Future-Proofing Your Knowledge with Samuel Arbesman — Shane writes, “Samuel Arbesman is a complexity scientist focusing on the changing nature of science and technology. We discuss learning, reading, and how to optimize both to get the best outcome.”

This is one of my favorite podcasts. I started listening to the Knowledge Project a few years ago and have gone back to listen from episode #1 onward. Each episode is filled with pearls on critical thinking and decision making.
