I was delighted to be interviewed for this AMA article on how Medicare cuts threaten patient access and what’s at stake for millions.

As a physician in a two-person group in Southern New Jersey, I experience the daily challenges which Medicare cuts have on our small practice. We are surrounded by large health systems in our region and our patients appreciate personalized care. Patients may one-day lose the ability to see physicians in private practice as Medicare continues to devalue their care.

I state, “My mission is to protect sight and to move medicine forward. Every patient deserves to be able to see a physician in their community in small practices, in practices in which they are valued and they are seen as patients, not as numbers. Medicare can help physicians in communities continue to deliver care on an individual basis … to do that we need inflationary updates and we need fair payment for the services that we deliver.”

The AMA is leading the charge to reform the Medicare payment system.
